I relish working in challenging and fast-paced environments. I have excellent communication and organisational skills, along with problem solving and lateral thinking abilities.
Professional Profile & Experience
I started work in freight forwarding as an import & export clerk, for LEP / Geo-Logistics a well-known logistics company. This was my first introduction to logistics and I fell in love with the industry.
Due to my operational experience in the freight forwarding industry I was asked to join DCS, a software development company which specialised in the development of logistics software. As a consultant my responsibilities included business and systems training, application support, business analysis, deployment and project management. I also worked with the experienced sales teams and provided sales support for new contract negotiations.
I spent 7 years working for global logistics company UTi Worldwide, starting as a deployment manager, responsible for a team of business analysts who provided all aspects of application support and deployment of our operational and finance systems across Europe.
I then moved into a senior manager role, overseeing all IT support in Europe and handling strategic integration from regional IT departments to a global IT structure, which included ensuring minimal disruption to day-to-day support, whilst standardising our tools and processes. During this time, change management was critical to ensure a smooth transition to our operational business. Managing the business stakeholder’s expectations was extremely important during this transition.
In 2011 I was asked to join the enterprise team at UTi's IT headquarters in Portland, Oregon as part of a project to build its own freight forwarding application and organisation to support. Responsibilities included implementing best practices and processes for the business analysis team, focusing on standardising documentation and tools with the intention to set up a global centre of excellence for the business analysts. Following the transition to a new (Agile) methodology I then took on the role as program manager, responsible for the continual management of the development lifecycle. This role involved coordination of different resources, including business analysts, solution architects and developers, as well as managing expectations of the stake holders and aligning the teams to ensure on-time delivery of the locally built freight forwarding software.
